My Kind of Town

Chicago is. For sure. If it wasn't for the obvious fact that I wanted to move away from harsh winters Chi-town would be a top contender of places I'd like to live. That, and feeling land-locked. Sorry Lake Michigan, you're massive... but still a lake. Nonetheless, I still love you.

I say this as the passenger, but yesterday's drive was a piece of cake. 6 hours to Syracuse University to drop/pick up Jenn from school used to feel like eons. After an 11.5 hour drive the day before it felt like a quick trip down the street.

2pm: Check in at Hotel Monaco, a gorgeous boutique-y hotel in downtown Chi across from the Trump Towers. Shoutout to Caitlin for booking us the room and leaving us delicious cupcakes from SUGAR BLISS. Best cupcake I've honestly ever had.

Mike's never been to Chicago, so before dinner we toured the Skydeck at the Willis Tower (aka Sears Tower) and Millenium Park. If you don't know already my brother can make friends with anyone and everyone. His Miami Beach shirt even prompted a convo between him and a bum, who he found out was from Cuba. And that wasn't the only homeless person he spoke with. (Reminds me of the time Michael, at 5 yrs old, took the bundle of balloons from a stranger. Fortunately, it turned out the guy was the boyfriend of our neighbor and he was throwing her a surprise party...) By the end of the night, Joey commented that if he ever was in Survivor Michael would be his top pick.

After some apps and drinks with Caitlin, we hit up Pequod's for dinner. Delicious deepdish pizza! If the rumors are right, SoCal doesn't have good pizza. I can easily do without Dunkin Donuts. I can do without Chinese food, but pizza? That'll be missed. I'll miss all you guys more though!

Btw, anyone book their plane tickets yet?? My bet's on Wes being the first visitor (aside from Mom). Oh and just to let you know, Aunty Linda found a Boston.com article that named Coronado Beach (in my new hometown of San Diego) #1 for the best beach in America for 2012.

Perfect time to move.

Oh! One more thing, Mike posted his pics to facebook. I'm hoping to load pics and a few short videos tonight. Lets see how that goes.
